  • First we define the system boundary including raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, product use, disposal and also set functional units (e.g., per unit of product, per unit of service provided).
  • Collecting data on inputs (e.g., materials, energy) and outputs (e.g., emissions, waste) associated with each stage of the product’s life cycle. GaBi software provides a comprehensive database of environmental data and allows users to input specific data relevant to their product.
  • Evaluating the environmental impacts of the inventory data collected. This step includes assessing potential impacts on various environmental categories such as global warming potential, acidification potential, eutrophication potential, etc. GaBi includes impact assessment methodologies based on established impact categories and characterization factors.
  • Finally, Interpret the results to identify hotspots (stages of the life cycle with significant environmental impacts) and areas for improvement. GaBi offers visualization tools and sensitivity analyses to help users understand and communicate the findings.
  • Then, we prepare a report summarizing the LCA results, methodology, assumptions made, and conclusions drawn. GaBi allows for customization of reports to meet specific stakeholder needs or compliance requirements.
